You reach a certain point in life when you won’t care much about how other people see you, the trappings you used to surround yourself with are all gone. You won’t need to pretend that you are happy when you are not. You won’t need to show the world that everything is right in your orbit when it is not. You won’t need to smile when you feel like crying. What is important is being true to yourself. Sometimes, it is really inevitable to feel alone even in a crowd, just watching the world show its face in different masks.
Maybe, this is what getting older does to you – more introspective, more appreciation with life, always grateful with little kindnesses shown your way, always of the thought that life is short but it could be somehow beautiful. It is a journey that you have to embrace no matter where the destination is.
Ah, we leave our footprints behind. We can always choose where we want to go. We can always choose to show the world how brave and courageous we are. We could be the life of the party or a mouse hovering nearby. The footprints we leave behind are as important as the unknown path ahead.
There are other journeys, there are more footprints you’ll make. Walk and leave one.
